Water Related Insect Vectors

Insect vectors are insects, mainly mosquitoes, that spread harmful viruses, parasites and germs (pathogens) from one person to another, or from animals to humans.1 Serious diseases like malaria and dengue are examples of vector-borne diseases.1,2 Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water and when they bite people they transmit these diseases.1,2 Improving water sanitation and water storage reduces mosquito breeding, which protects communities affected by these diseases.1
